Dr Emma Higgins

Emma is a ST7 Clinical Oncology registrar working in Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. She is currently completing an MD developing Normal Tissue Complication Probability (NTCP) models to predict dysphagia following adjuvant radiotherapy treatment for HPV +ve oropharyngeal cancer patients who have had surgery (as part of the PATHOS trial). She also has a role as radiotherapy quality assurance (RTQA) advisor for the PATHOS trial.

Emma is passionate about radiotherapy and oncology research having previously worked as a Therapeutic Radiographer and completed a MSC in molecular medicine, both of which she completed in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Subsequently she graduated with an MBChB from University of Leicester in 2010.

Emma will complete her clinical oncology training in Jan 2024 and hopes to specialise in head and neck cancer while maintaining her current research interests in RTQA and treatment toxicity.
