Dr Jason Fleming

Jason Fleming FRCS PhD, is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and an Honorary Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon at the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre. He is the Departmental Director for Postgraduate Research at the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine and is also the Fellowship programme director for the Aintree Head and Neck Fellowship.

His training included Fellowships in both London (2018/19) and UAB-Birmingham, Alabama (2019/20), the third largest public hospital in the USA. A member of both British (BAHNO) and American (AHNS) specialty associations, he has a tertiary practice treating malignant tumours of the head and neck, including the oropharynx, larynx, thyroid and salivary glands. He regularly performs function sparing transoral laser surgery of the upper aerodigestive tract and is also a certified transoral robotic console surgeon.

Mr Fleming supervises a number of research projects including the study of novel radiosensitivity therapeutics and co-leads a new nanoparticle research programme in head and neck. He is Co-CI on the proposed PROTIS trial (PROton beam Therapy versus Intensity-modulated radiotherapy for Sinonasal cancer) together with Dr. David Thomson from The Christie, Manchester.
